Free debt and stress advice

Are you struggling with debt? Do you feel stressed when you think about money problems?

The debt charity Step Change has teamed up with the Mental Health Foundation to offer really practical steps to help you.

The charity says: “Debt can leave you feeling a shadow of your former self. You can feel its presence when you see the stack of bills waiting to be dealt with. You can hear it in your voice when you talk to your kids or argue with your partner. Maybe you feel it as knots in your stomach and tension in your head. And perhaps you’ve lain awake at night, turning thoughts over in your head, unable to sleep properly.

“If this sounds like you, then you may be one of thousands of people who suffer with debt-related stress… It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Step Change’s ‘7 Days + Ways To Deal With Debt’ offers you a free, week-long email programme to help you prepare for debt advice. Meanwhile, ‘Be Mindful’, from the Mental Health Foundation, is where you can find information about dealing with stress. It’s also where you can learn about ‘mindfulness’, helping you stay focused on what’s happening right now instead of worrying about the past or future.

To find out more, visit Step Change’s ‘Debt Can Be A Mindfield’ web page. You can also call the charity on 0800 138 1111, Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, and on Saturday from 8am to 4pm.

If you’re struggling to pay your rent, want to find out how you can save money on your bills or increase your income, Cobalt Housing is also here to help. Please get in touch.
